Every business that trades goods with other European Union (EU) member states is required to provide details of these transactions for statistical purposes. Intrastat is the system used to collect these statistics.

Movements of goods between EU member states are called Arrivals (acquisitions, purchases or imports), and Dispatches (removals, sales or exports).

If the arrivals of goods excess an annual value of SEK 2 200 000 and/or the dispatches excess an annual value of SEK 4 500 000, it requires traders to make detailed monthly statistical returns to SCB (Sweden).

Businesses that go above both these thresholds must provide both arrival and dispatch information.
